When I started this business I figured out quickly that workshops were tough for me. I am a bit a.d.d., and have a difficult time learning with a ton of people around. I do best one on one.

In the past 3 years I’ve gotten random emails asking about mentoring. When I had time, I met with a few photographers and realized just how much I LOVE to teach what I know! I love helping people, sharing information and helping people grow. The great thing about photography, is we are always learning! There is always room to improve, be technically better, and evolving in your style. Because of my schedule I haven’t had much time to do this. If you read my post on filling up my days, you’ll understand why! Sitting in church one day, I realized that this was something I felt led to do and make time for.

My goal for 2013, is to start offering one on one sessions and maybe very small group meet-ups. Recently I had an opportunity to get together with a small group, to talk about portraits, posing, shooting in manual, and how I started and run my business. I have to say I was so excited and it was so rewarding for me. We met out at my family’s house at folly beach, and my friend Ashley modeled for us!

If this is something you might be interested in, please let me know, and what specifically you’d like to learn. I’ve started a list of people who have asked about specific things and this will help me prepare for next year. Can’t wait to hear from you! 🙂

  • Jessica Veltri - Love this idea! I’d be interested in the business side and learning about how you developed your style 🙂

  • Danielle - I am TOTALLY down to do something like this! I was turned on to your photography by Isabelle Selby-I love the pictures you took at her wedding. 🙂 My husband has been asking me to teach him a thing or two about shooting so he can help me on bigger jobs. I’d love to come down to you for a weekend and have you work with the two of us. I’m a little busy now, but I’ll DEFINITELY be reaching out to you about this in the near future. 🙂

  • Harmony - Yippee….this post made me smile!!! Hope I’m first on your list ;)I would love to watch you in action and take some pictures with you and hear about how you plan for a wedding and what equipment you use for what. I would then love to see some editing and learn how to organize and get through all those pictures (without going crazy, hee, hee). Also business tips would be great….contracts, products, marketing, packaging. Okay, everything…just kidding….kinda.
    I’m ready when you are!!!

  • Kelly S. Graham - Hey Girlie, I felt led to send you a personal email last summer and was glad to have you email me back. You’ve achieved so many of your goals that you were planning. My goal is still to follow you around a few days and gain some skill and insight. So send me some info. I teach so I have the entire summer available!!

  • sass - im so in. all of the above:)

  • audra bender - i would absolutely love to learn from a true artist, as you are. i would love to learn how to market and grow the wedding side of the business, what lenses to utilize in certain scenarios, utilizing light more effectively, posing, and post editing especially using RAW. i am 100% self taught and feel like i am very close to being maxed out of what i can teach myself and feel that i learn more effectively with someone, watching. would be over the moon excited! 🙂

  • juliet - I am SO honored that you are all interested in this!!!! Thank you so much for your kind words and I am looking forward to meeting up with you all at some point!!
