He Restoreth My Soul

Growing up, I remember my mom reciting Psalm 23. It was one of her favorite verses, and I understand why.

When she got really sick I would read this to her and even after radiation she could remember the words. What is it about certain verses that affect and move us? For me, it’s an understanding of no matter what happens in this life, God is always there, always for us, to comfort, support and love us.

Even though I have the NIV version of the Bible, I prefer the King James Version of this passage. No matter what you are going through, remember God is always there, always constant, never changes. I hope this helps you today!!

Psalm 23:1-6

King James Version (KJV)

Psalm 23

1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
